What began in 1994 with a small office container on Oberer Westring is now one of the largest and most space-intensive companies in Büren: ARGUS Additive Plastics GmbH. This impressive growth is, in part, the work of one man—the founder and long-time managing director, Helmut Hirsch. With his vision, courage, and persistence, he has had a significant impact on the company for more than 32 years—27 of them as managing director—and has led it to its current success.
During a ceremony on Friday, March 20, 2026, Helmut Hirsch was honored for his extraordinary commitment. Guests, employees, and his family came together to share memories and reflect on the company’s growth. He has poured his heart and passion into building and developing ARGUS. Together with two partners, he founded ARGUS Additive Plastics GmbH in 1994 and began construction of his own production facility and laboratory that same year. Over the years, a total of three additional new buildings were constructed, along with numerous acquisitions, so that ARGUS now occupies more than 115,000 m² of corporate space. The company stands out in the market for its high-quality products and continuously invests in state-of-the-art technological standards. For example, two production extruders of the latest design were recently purchased, and the workshop is currently being housed in a new building that is under construction and scheduled to be inaugurated in 2027.
In the future, his sons Sascha Hirsch and Andre Hirsch will jointly continue to manage the business as managing directors. Both have many years of experience within the company and have been familiar with ARGUS since childhood. Today, ARGUS comprises a strong team of around 200 employees. The family business generates annual revenue of over 110 million euros and produces masterbatches for customers worldwide.
