Things are changing in the Büren economy: During a company visit, Mayor Burkhard Schwuchow took a closer look at the progress of the current construction project at ARGUS Additive Plastics – one of the most space-intensive companies in the city. The reason: the comprehensive refurbishment and expansion of the factory – a clear sign of the site’s future viability.

The project includes the deconstruction of the previous factory building, which has been part of ARGUS since 2003. Preparatory measures began in January 2025, including the relocation of the factory to temporary areas for the duration of the construction work. Deconstruction began at the end of April and is expected to be completed by summer 2025.

A new, three-unit factory building is being constructed on the existing site, which is architecturally modelled on the existing administration building. The new building fulfils the latest energy and construction standards and will be equipped with a photovoltaic system, green roof, geothermal energy and heat pumps. An additional office wing will be built next to the workshop, which will be connected to the administration building by a bridge. The project is scheduled for completion in autumn 2026.

As the company will continue to grow in the future, this additional office and space capacity is essential. ARGUS regularly provides training in both commercial and technical areas, and job vacancies are regularly published on the company’s website. ‘With this investment, we are not only creating modern working conditions, but also ensuring that our company is ideally equipped for the demands of the future,’ emphasised the owner family around Helmut, Sascha and André Hirsch.

Mr. Schwuchow was impressed: “Such projects clearly show how dynamically Büren is developing as a business location. We are proud of companies like ARGUS, which is not only an important employer, but also contributes to the sustainable strengthening of our city by investing in infrastructure.”
